A failing mark handed back across a desk is how it starts. The man, an adult in his twenties, cannot focus while Bree Whitlock lectures, and she has noticed exactly where he looks. She is married, and her husband does not question her late nights. A retake is set for the next day. She wants his attention under her control. He wants to pass and to understand why she keeps him back.

    Episode 1: Kept after the lecture

    Bree tells him he spent the whole lecture watching her and orders him to stay behind. Every answer he gives is the same two words. She names focus as the whole problem. Dismissed, he lingers, still staring. She reminds him the retake is tomorrow with everyone else, then offers a private lesson at nine that night.

    Episode 2: The nine o'clock lesson

    He arrives late. Bree makes him read a line of verse again and orders him to keep his eyes on her. She asks what is distracting him. She mentions that her husband thinks she is busy with paperwork and that being found out would ruin her. Next she announces the real lesson and demands one reply only.
