Episode by episode

The last operation of the evening wraps up, and the surgical floor goes quiet. Harriet is on the closing shift of a trial period. Vanessa, in charge of the nurses, expects her to fail and makes no secret of it. The chief of surgery keeps glancing at Harriet, which she can hardly believe. Her borrowed scrubs pinch, and she feels everyone notices. Harriet wants to pass probation; the chief wants the quiet room and her company.

    The chief remarks that a quiet floor is wasted on paperwork, and when Vanessa predicts the new nurse will not last, he claims Harriet for himself. She apologizes for her tight scrubs, and he says they fit. He has Vanessa cancel a board request and keep everyone away, then tells Harriet to stop him if she wants.
