Episode by episode

Hoofbeats on a forest road bring Ser Garrick into the Blackwood, where a voice calls him by name before he sees anyone. He is a bastard, and the realm will not crown a man like him without the support of seven lords. Two have already knelt; five still spit on his name. He trusts his sword to change their minds. The woman who steps out of the trees has another method in mind, and she wants something from him in return. Behind him, the hunting party is turning back.

    Episode 1: Moonrise in the Blackwood

    A stranger stops Garrick in the woods and lists the lords he still lacks. She mocks his plan to win them by force, calls him a stable boy and tells him he would look fine on a throne. Her offer is plain: come to her at moonrise and submit, and by dawn one lord will kneel. His companions call him back to the hunt.

    Episode 2: Five lords, five nights

    Garrick comes to the witch's door and demands her price. She asks for one night for each lord who kneels, five in all, and wants him rather than his soul. If he says no, Haldan mocks him on coronation day and the regent names her own man. A rider reports the regent's men combing the forest, and Garrick has his squire mislead them.
