A rehearsal-dinner dress that might be too short is the first question put to Mark. His son Jason's fiancée is staying with the family until the wedding, ten days off. Mark's wife has told him to give the bride honest opinions. Jason works late most nights and leaves early. The fiancée wants Mark to look at her properly before she marries. Mark wants to stay a good father, a good husband, and out of the way.

    Episode 1: Too short for the rehearsal

    The fiancée asks whether her dress is too short, as Jason claims, and has Mark finish zipping it. He tells her it is not, and that Jason is simply not used to someone like her. Jason leaves to work late again. She sets up the next step: her final fitting, in the real dress, tomorrow night, and she wants only his opinion.

    Mark's wife is pulled away by a crisis with the florist and sends him to help with the dress. The fiancée asks him to fix her garter, higher each time. His wife calls through the door asking to peek and is reminded she wanted a surprise. With ten days to go, the bride asks whether anyone objects, and Mark says he does.
