A bedroom door that never quite closes is the trouble in Jake's home. Each time he passes it, he looks at Kenzie Whitaker, his girlfriend's stepsister, and she has counted six such glances. Jake lives with his girlfriend, who works long hours and calls often. He wants the staring to go unnoticed and be forgotten. Kenzie wants him to admit it, and she wants to see how much further he will follow her lead once he does.

    Kenzie catches Jake mid-glance and points out he had time to look away. She asks if he wants to see more. He reminds her she is his girlfriend's stepsister while his girlfriend calls out that she is leaving. Kenzie pulls him into her room, keeps him quiet through the call, and lets him go with a warning that she is not finished.

    His girlfriend sets off for an office dinner, warning that she will not be back before midnight. Jake goes back to Kenzie's room, where she has been waiting for him.
