My Best Friend's Mom Teaches Pilates

A hand pressed flat against Jake's ribs and an instruction to breathe into it start the first session. Jake's back is in bad shape, and his best friend Tyler has bought a block of ten sessions with the instructor who once repaired Tyler's own spine, who happens to be Tyler's mother. Her studio has no equipment, and she uses herself instead. Jake wants relief and to stay a good friend. She wants all ten sessions, and Tyler keeps dropping by.

1. EP 1

   Episode 1: Session one

   Tyler's mother walks Jake through breathing exercises where her hands guide every movement, and he asks which part is actually the exercise. Tyler phones to ask whether she has fixed him yet. She tells Jake the gift covers his back and the rest costs nothing. Tyler arrives early to find the door locked, and she sets the next session for after closing.

2. EP 2

   Episode 2: After close

   Tyler questions the locked door, then hands Jake over again and asks his mother to be gentle; she promises nothing of the kind. After hours, shoes and shirt come off and the first session resumes. A call about Tyler's forgotten wallet buys a little time. She gives Jake fifteen minutes and asks him to undress her.

   Eight sessions remain on the gift, and Tyler drops by without warning. Whether Jake keeps attending, and whether the lock keeps holding, is still open.
