A wedding dress on a hanger upstairs is the excuse Bree uses to pull the best man away from the others. The wedding is two days off. Jake, the groom and his closest friend, is on the phone about catering and usually drifts off before midnight. The best man has spent six years keeping his distance from Bree. He wants to get his friend married without trouble. Bree wants to know why he never tried, and she asks him directly.

    Episode 1: The zipper upstairs

    The best man arrives two days before the ceremony and sees Bree for the first time in a while. Jake sends him upstairs with the dress while phoning the caterer. Bree says Jake cannot manage zippers and has dozed off. She notes that in six years the best man kept his hands to himself, and wonders aloud if she ever truly belonged to Jake.

    Bree says goodnight to the best man in a way that stops him in the hall. He tries to walk on and cannot. He tells her they should not, and she says that is exactly the appeal.
