Snow piles across the only road out after Mia's boyfriend drives her stepmother Diana home as a favor. The road will not reopen until morning, no call goes through and he is soaked through. Diana hands him a T-shirt, offers a drink and suggests sharing a blanket. Mia has described him as far too timid to ever start anything. He wants to stay polite and loyal; Diana wants to find out whether Mia is right.

    The road closes, and Diana tells him to strip off the wet layers into a borrowed T-shirt. He tries to call Mia, but the lines are dead. He turns down anything stronger than tea and keeps to the far end of the couch until Diana asks whether he is really scared of sharing a blanket with her.
