A loose tie at the back of Josie's top becomes the first test of the weekend, when she asks her stepson to fasten it again. Tyler's father has just left her for a woman in her twenties, and she wants to know whether she looks old. Tyler, an adult who has come home to keep her company, insists she is still his stepmother. She points to twelve years of yoga that her husband never noticed. His father calls to say he will come by on Sunday to talk.

Josie tells Tyler his father has gone off with another woman and asks him to judge her honestly. She lets a strap come undone and notices his hand shaking when he fixes it. His father phones to say he will come on Sunday to talk. Josie asks Tyler to stay through the weekend, because she cannot face that bed alone.

Josie returns to the subject of her husband, who slept turned away from her every night, and Tyler says he would not. A voicemail from his father asks whether Tyler is there and why he is not answering.
