Episode by episode

A footstep in the ruins makes a patrol of women stop and stare. The man they find has crossed empty country for three years without meeting another man. Behind the walls of their settlement, called Eden, live about five hundred women who have not seen a man since the collapse. Their queen, Rachel Greer, wants him kept safe and shared. He wants shelter, answers and a lock on his door.

    Episode 1: Five hundred women

    The man recounts his long search and his shock at the crowd of women. A patrol takes him to be presented to the queen, explaining no man has been seen in over three years. Inside the walls he is told he is precious and safe, that nobody will touch him without permission, and that a bolted door will keep him to himself for the night.

    Episode 2: A door left open

    He leaves the bolt open, and the queen arrives. She takes her time and asks whether it would excite him if her guards knew. She says she likes to share what Eden has. Then she states her real purpose: for humanity to continue, every woman in the enclave is meant to share him. He asks, stunned, if she means every one.
